Italian municipalities comitted with renewables
The report of Legambiente (IT), an environmentalist association, shows that Italians efforts of making an energy transition towards a more sustainable energy production are becoming successful and that they are also bringing economy benefits. As a result, 39 municipalities are running on 100% renewable energy and this trend is spreading to the whole country.
During the last ten years, the use of renewables has increased from 15% to 35.5%, reaching a production of 57,1 TWh, where the solar energy is on the lead producing in some cases more than the energy needed to satisfy the municipality. Wind power it is already satisfying the energy of up to 5,5 million families.
due to a policy designed to increase the usage of renewable energy, Feed-in tariff (FIT), they have obtained €80.000, which has been reinjected into the local community.
